From beach umbrellas to matching pajama sets— you can find stripes just about anywhere you look nowadays. Even though they’ve taken on many different cultural definitions and relevance through the years, it’s one of the most neutral-looking patterns that still offers a bit more personality. Whether you’re wearing them or styling them in your home, you can customize them to your liking; thick or thin lines, color palette, vertical or horizontal, each identifying factor is just as important as the next.
I’m not sure when my immediate attraction to stripes began but subconsciously my eye is always scanning for them. Whether it’s the pair of socks rolled up in my drawer or the vintage piece on the rack at a flea market, I’m convinced that stripes and I have a magnetic pull to one another.
MOOD BOARD TO SET THE STAGE:
WEARING STRIPES:
I ended up styling stripes a lot this week for research purposes but also because I can’t resist really leaning into a theme.
While shuffling through my closet, I noticed quite a few ‘Breton’ pieces: thick horizontal lines on basic top (t-shirts and tanks) that are commonly tied to the sailor or French aesthetic. But my most popular stripe style is tied between the classic pencil or pinstripe, always in a joyful color scheme and mainly on collared button downs or long skirts.
These versions allow for easy-dressing especially as the temperatures rise, intensifying my craving for an ice cream cone and a trip to the beach.

A WISHLIST OF STRIPES:
I know that I’ve used the word stripes over a dozen time since the start of this newsletter (sorry!) but it wouldn’t feel complete without compiling a wishlist filled with striped eye candy.
