Winter Things
Six fixations for a new year.
Write everyday
It’s been one year since I launched this newsletter ( !!! ) and I am so grateful to have a little corner of the internet to share more of myself with you. Thank you, thank you, thank you for joining me.
One of my hopes for this coming year is to write more, everyday in fact. It may not always be published or grammatically correct as I scribble in my journal, but the practice of writing has allowed me to discover more about myself than I could have imagined. I plan to devote more time exploring personal style and small acts of creativity in this space as well <3
2. No nonsense dressing
I feel so spoiled by Winters in the south because I’m not restricted by freezing temperatures or unexpected blizzards. There’s still leaves on the ground, glimpses of greenery and birds chirping— I can settle into this season at my own pace without trying to hurry Spring along, re-wearing pieces I love without it feeling too redundant.
All I want to wear these days are:
• Albane Loafers with fuzzy socks, also dressing up the Alwane Jacket to feel fancy ( I wore this 3 separate times over the holidays )
• Baggy jeans with a pointy vintage boot peeking out
• My trusty waffle thermal top under every layer (use PAIGEAUBER10 for 10% off)
• Slipping into my wool slippers as soon as I’m home
3. Make our house a home
It’ll mark two years living in this space this Spring, and to be honest, it needs more of our love and attention. We’ve outgrown a lot of our home decor and design pairings since moving to Atlanta, so this year is not only about starting new projects but finishing them! First up: paint and decorate the guest room so we have a cozy place for friends and family to stay.
We’ve been frequenting Mother Lode and Decatur Estate Vintage Market to build our collection of vintage art and timeless furniture— roaming around to see what catches our eye naturally. This vintage glass book shelf and winterscape painting from 1985 drew us in immediately, it’s been a treat to fill it with our most special trinkets and watch the shadows cast against it during golden hour.
4. Reading through my TBR list
I read 25 books this past year, my goal for 2025 is to hit 40 books. Pulling directly from my growing to-be-read pile, I just started The Great Believers by Rebecca Makkai and will move to Small Things Like This by Claire Keegan next.
Moving forward, I’d like to develop a real practice of discussion after a book is complete— creating a level of confidence behind the discourse of literature itself, exploring stories to the fullest. My friend and I are reading one book a month to exercise this notion together as well as tap into different genres. Which is also just a fun and simple way to stay connected within community.
5. More crafting, less scrolling
Speaking of connection and community, I know we’re all feeling glued to our devices, whether we want to be or not. For the holidays, I sourced vintage beads to make bag charms as gifts and that really ignited my desire to be more creative with my hands again. I have plans with friends to do ceramic hand-building and still-life painting— in search for more tangible expressions. Less mindless scrolling, more creating meaningful art for our home and thoughtful gifts for our loved ones.
6. All of this and more
Until next time!

Your Substack is my cozy go to!! I can feel your intentionality behind this post. And of course, loving all your fits as usual. Do the loafers and the jacket from Sezane fit true to size? Can’t tell if the jacket runs small, wish they had sizing descriptions of the model. Happy New Year, looking forward to seeing more of your writing!
